PIT.24.II

$2,400.00
OXIDIZED METAL WITH CERAMIC FACEPLATE
FINISH: OBSIDIAN EMBER DIMENSIONS: 13 H x 11 W
BUILT IN: BROOKLYN, NEW YORK ELECTRICAL: HARDWIRE OR PLUGIN WITH DIMMER

Like its companions in the Arkhe Object pit firing collection, PIT.24.II emerged from a moment of surrender as clay yielded to gravity, taking form in a spontaneous process. Textures from a studio mate's canvas leave subtle traces on its surface. Through pit firing at The Oki Doki Studio in Upstate New York, the clay body displays dominant rusty reds, each marking revealing transformation by organic foraged materials. Along the fold edges, touches of black appear, while smokey grey tones gather toward the center. The natural ivory of the clay body creates contrast between the marks of fire and mineral.

Mounted on hand welded backing crafted by Taylor Forrest Studios in New York's Hudson Valley, the piece is completed by custom metalwork oxidized to a deep gunmetal black. The sculpture is illuminated by dimmable LED lighting, offering control over its luminous presence, and can be configured for either hardwire installation or plug in convenience.
