ARKHE OBJECT is a Brooklyn based design studio creating illuminated ceramic sculptures that bridge art and function. Each piece begins with a moment of surrender, clay released to gravity, finding its form through the act of letting go. This foundation of happenstance gives every creation its distinctive character and organic presence.

Our name honors ARKHE, the ancient Greek concept representing origins, beginnings, and first principles, celebrating that fleeting space where intention meets chance, and where we can trust each moment celebrating a new beginning. Our pieces incorporate elements gathered from global travels: volcanic ash from Iceland, sea glass from Mediterranean shores, alongside materials discovered in New York City's urban landscape, along with limited releases created in other locations using local materials.

Founder Sarah Wright Altman handcrafts all ceramic pieces herself, while collaborating with skilled artisans to complete the final components. Together, we transform these diverse materials into numbered, one of a kind objects that invite light and shadow to become active participants in the spaces they inhabit. Unlit, they stand as sculptural records of creative process; illuminated, they float off the wall breathing new life into their surroundings creating evolving conversations between material and space.
