NAT.24.II
This piece materialized through clay surrendering to its descent and settling into a form defined by its own inherent qualities. A translucent veil of ivory glaze cascades over the surface, revealing and concealing the natural clay body beneath. Created in our Brooklyn studio, this sculptural lighting element incorporates fragments of sea glass harvested from Greek coastlines alongside repurposed glass bottles from creative neighbors. These azure and emerald inclusions emerge from the porcelain-like surface, connecting the piece to distant Mediterranean shores and the energy of collaborative creation.
Mounted on hand welded backing crafted by Taylor Forrest Studios in New York's Hudson Valley, the piece is completed by custom metalwork oxidized to a deep gunmetal black. The sculpture is illuminated by dimmable LED lighting, offering control over its luminous presence, and can be configured for either hardwire installation or plug in convenience.
